Egg McMuffin Creator dies

As many of you know, the start of my day is not complete without an Egg McMuffin. Nothing else on the menu is that interesting to me and without the Egg McMuffin, I probably would never go to McDonalds.

This past week, Herb Peterson, the inventor of the Egg McMuffin died. The Egg McMuffin was one of the few menu items that were created in the field rather than at McDonald's central command. The other big one being the Big Mac, which was invented here in the Pittsburgh area.

I am not sure why the Egg McMuffin tastes so good. There is no real magic to it. An egg, Canadian bacon, cheese, butter and an English Muffin. Yet this simple product (when made correctly by McDonald's staff) beats the pants off anything on Wendy's breakfast menu.

My condolences to his family.
